@DDCL, @Edmonton, @Electrical repair of central vacuum fixtures.

Central Vacuum Attachments or Connections in Buildings Using Electrical Tape vs Electrical Nuts
Increasing voltage and amperage to electrical devices increases the risk potential shorts and electrical fire hazards if electrical tape is used to hold and insulate the bare electrical wire end.
Electrical connections should be sound firm connections by using the appropriate components such as electrical nuts for the particular wire size and quantity of wires. If electrical tape i...
s used to cover the wires as the voltage and amperage increase the potential of burn through the electrical tape increases. The ends of the wire when cut have sharp edges and as tape is wrapped around the wire stretch and thin out. Most of all the electrical tape will deteriorate over time. Electrical nuts are designed to hold the wires together and have a solid protective coating to prevent shorts, burn through and maintain a tight connection among the wires joined.
When central vacuum connection are failing intermittently after years of use from connecting and disconnecting it is time to inspected and resolve your issue. If twisting the hose connection from side to side to make the central vacuum start-up it is possible that the hose end is failing, wires connections could be broken / disconnected or the connection itself is broken. Once should never forget that pipes could also be plugged, broken or even disconnected.
The only way to determine your particular issue is to systematically trouble shoot.
We could possibly resolve your central vacuum issues so contact DDCL’s Representative Daniel at 587-597-4228. Have a great days and see you next time.

@DDCL, @Edmonton, @HandymanServices sealing of concrete cracks.

The project today was to stop a water leaking into the garage at the footing wall interface. The water is leaking approximately six feet along one side of the garage on the inside. The ground along the outside wall was removed down to the footing and inspected for holes, cracks, wood in seams or anything else that might be an issue.

Originally when the soil was added a section of the seam was not sealed with the protective barrier which caused the leak. Big Blue is added along the wall footing interface after following  manufacturers recommendations.

On this side of the garage the soil is a bit saturated with water so a secondary protection system is going to be installed to remove excess water from the immediate area.

If you have foundation leaks in your garage contact our representative Daniel at 587-597-4228. Have a great day.

@DDCL, @Edmonton, @Electrical nicked electrical wires in outlet boxes.

Well working in Edmonton and replacing a bathroom ceiling fan. The installation went well up to the point where I found out the fan run all the time. This was strange because I just replace the fan unit so the cover was removed and took a wee peek. Electrical tape was seen wrapped around the common "white wire" and load "black wire". Both wires were not completely covered with electrical tape. Another wire was cut off in the box and the end was not covered with a electrical nut. This could cause a electrical short or worse. The switch for the fan now works properly. Always appreciate the business and look forward to challenges which tomorrow brings. At DDCL there are no jobs too small. Contact Daniel our representative at 587-597-4228. We have a book keeping service completed by book keepers and a cleaning service for residential or commercial settings. Have s great evening everyone.

@DDCL, @Edmonton, @HandymanServices, Daniel, DDCL 587-597-4228 Integrity of ones workmanship

Integrity is the word which fits I do believe.

For all those out there who complete jobs no matter what the task is or the amount of compensation you get do the best you can. Your compensation will come in long term dividends when you do a good job and people call you back to do other jobs.

When leveling the shed the support beam were not sufficient to stop the shed from flexing mid-way along the length. Entering the shed many screw heads were stripped, had gaps from the base of the screw to the mating plastic surface. Workers who are proud of their work would replace the screws and ensure the screw joint ends up as designed. Yes, integrity of the person who put the shed together. It might be that the compensation was not great enough to fix issues and maybe the owner would not see the craftsmanship. There are many people out there who do an excellent job. It could be that the cold and hot weather “expansion and contraction forces” caused some issues. But the stripped screws do not fall in the category here. The bit could have been worn out but in this case should have been replaced. In my opinion the supplier should be contacted and fix issues which are found by the owner, within reason.

There are some times when completing a job nothing goes as planned and this is the time to take a step back and regroup even if you have to leave it for a few hours or the next day. One should always guarantee his or her workmanship. Doing work for others and expecting huge compensation packages is unreasonable for the owner could be anyone and you might be on the receiving end in the future.

Here is a picture of one of a few incorrect screw attachments, there are others which almost fell out or had stripped heads as mentioned previously. While on this job unfortunately the peek plastic was broken so it was taped over to help in preventing rain from entering. I would have thought that there would also be end caps to keep the insects out but none were seen. O boy all these little repairs take time and I honestly believe that we will all be compensated in the future by being fair to all clients.

Have a great day from all of here at DDCL.
